6 Tips to Help You Prepare for Winter

November is here and Westeros is not the only place where ‘winter is coming’. In recent years, winters have been rather mild and Bangladesh has never been a place where the change in season has affected our ways of living much. But the air drying up and grey skylines do leave a mark on our day-too-day activities. So, here are a few tips to help you prepare for winter and make you keep your home, health and lifestyle intact once the winds of winter start blowing.

1. Seasonal Conversion for Your Wardrobe

A sudden November rain, and you might be in need of your winter essentials the very next morning. So, bring out your sweaters and jackets and send them to the dry cleaners in order to have them at your disposal when you need them.

2. Swap Your Bedding

Winter mornings can be tough when you have a 10 am meeting to attend and you do not want to leave the comfort of your blankets. Launder out your warm weather bedding and put on a covering layer on your woolen blankets if you are allergic to dust.

3. Switch from Lotion to Cream

When you switch your seasonal wardrobes, it is a good idea to do the same with your skin emollient. Use creams, which are typically more moisturizing, instead of lotions, which do not provide as strong an oily barrier to reduce water loss in the skin. Creams feel heavier on the skin but they do a much better job at protecting against temperature and humidity extremes.

4. Protection against the Seasonal Flu

The sudden change in season often affects the health greatly with households being affected with viral fevers and seasonal influenza. Give your body the best chance of avoiding the flu — and fighting it if you do catch it — by getting a flu shot.

5. Eat Organic and Exercise

Winter is the best time in Bangladesh to get the freshest vegetables. Take a walk down to the local bazar to stock up and avoid junk food as it is harder to burn calories in winter. Try to exercise regularly to provide your body with the strength to work around the clock.

6. Start Planning that Vacation Already

And finally if you are planning to pack your bags and head off to a vacation with your family later in December, it is high time that you start making your bookings to get the best offers early, as tourism is at its peak throughout winter.
