Calendars to Build a Better Society

Calendars to Build a Better Society

April 8, 2015

Bangladeshis are passionate. They throw themselves heart and soul into the activities they enjoy and live life to the fullest. Football and Cricket are sports that evoke a nationwide response, both from spectators and players. Music, whether it be the melodious Rabindra Sangeet or the haunting hymns of the Bauls, is an essential part of life. Food here is not merely a source of daily sustenance, it is an art form. The delicious mishti doi, sandesh and rosogollas, the various types of fish, the fragrant briyani are prepared and consumed with passion, both on the streets and in kitchens.

The moments of togetherness that are shared over a cup of tea, the passion that is felt for sports, the music that is present in every aspect of their lives, the delicious food – from maach to mishti that they love to indulge in – are all uniquely savored moments of their lives. “I wanted to capture all of this through my pictures and create a calendar – depicting the very essence of being a Bangladeshi”. This calendar is to honor this essence through candid photographs that bring alive the Bangladeshi culture and lifestyle.

The calendar has been shot to raise money for Jaago Foundation. You can contribute to Jaago by buying these calendars priced at 500 taka and make a difference to a child’s life.
