Bangladesh Brand Forum hosted a dialogue on the 12th of May 2018 with industry leaders from the digital marketing scene of Bangladesh. The objective of which was to clarify the digital marketing space. The discussion included both clients and digital marketing agencies with the goal of collaborating for the betterment and growth of the entire industry. Discussants shared opinions on the avenues that needed to be visited for the development of the digital space and for it to reach its potential.

Digital marketing agencies will be at the forefront of the digital revolution. Digital agencies will witness widespread growth as Bangladesh advances to its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2041. But the current situation is far from the vision as the general perception is that digital marketing is inherently economical. The discussants were called out to raise awareness and clear misconceptions about the digital marketing space because at lower prices quality of work also degrades. Even as it stands, the drive for the next digitalization wave is being brought about by the agencies in the context of Bangladesh.

Key issues and flaws were identified by the attendants during the discussions in terms of the utilization of the digital marketing space and if the campaign itself is relevant from a brand positioning perspective. Digital content is not being executed appropriately because there is a disconnect between the brand objective and what clients want from the campaign while agencies also fail to understand the brand brief more often than not. The initiative is required from both the clients and the agencies to broaden the horizon for both the employees and services and alleviate the problems.

Talks were centered around:

  • The development of skill for the sector – the steps and the guidelines to build a sustainable pool of adept individuals for the industry in the wake of the current difficulty in finding talent.
  • The Digital Marketing Award 2018 – how to make it more robust so that the best works are recognized
  • The Digital Marketing Summit – designing the summit content to provide current development and insight.
