Communication Summit is one of the prominent parts of Commward and this year the summit had six renowned speakers from home and abroad. The speakers enlightened the audience with sessions on current trends, analysis and practices in the field of marketing and advertising. The summit was attended by 300 professionals from the field of advertising and marketing. Dave McCaughan, one of the key note speakers took his session on “Underwear, Toilets, TV and Other Social Media You Don’t Think About Enough”. Highlights from his super-interactive session is being mentioned below-

Dave McCaughan, Marketing thought leader, storyteller, BIBLIOSEXUAL started his session with a question, “what matters?”

A survey among the moms showed that, if they could only save one thing from a Facebook profile, passport, engagement ring, smartphone they would save their smartphone. It’s 2015 and our research, our marketing, our creativity, our lives seem to revolve around our smartphones. We can not help ourselves; we talk about them, care them, love them, they are a part of us. In another survey, conducted among 16-22 years old, 53% said that they would give up their sense of smell but not their personal technology. These are now not our mobile phones or technology. They are our senses. They are the means to sense the world, understand the world. Technology has become our fifth sense. But the most interesting fact is that in today’s world 75% has the access to television where only 53% of the world population will get the access of internet within 2030!

So if we ask ourselves what is the most important invention so far? Which technology has really changed our life? The answer is more shocking. Its the invention of toilet. Toilet was used as a social medium in past times. And at present a western toilet is the symbol of being a modern family. Mr. Dave said, “We use them to define our home, our health, our humor. We use them to pass experiences, pass time, pass wisdom. We can’t live without them and we can’t ignore them. Sounds like the ultimate social media to me.” We consider internet as the only meaning of social medium but its not true.

Without downplaying the general concept of technology Dave asked the audience to rethink, “What medium really matters in peoples life?”
