The underprivileged people of Bangladesh stand outside restaurants and look at the food being prepared with hungry stomachs. They don’t have enough money in their pockets to buy that food. One has to be satisfied with just the smell of food wafting from afar.

What if the underprivileged and hungry people could go to a restaurant and eat their favourite food at a buffet for just 1 Taka? Bidyanondo’s 1 Taka Restaurant emerged from this idea. Bidyanondo has built this 1 Taka Restaurant in the drought-affected area of Kurigram.

Here, in exchange for 1 Taka the underprivileged and hungry people can sit and eat their favourite food in a pleasant and healthy environment with the satisfaction of having a hearty meal. 20.1% of the country’s population is below the poverty line. These people do not get to eat three meals a day properly. They have to depend on the help of others for each meal. In such a situation, they cannot even think of eating at a good restaurant.

There are many organizations, institutions or individuals who come forward to satisfy the hunger of these helpless and underprivileged people but they cannot fulfil the lack of proper nutrition required by the human body. They are also deprived from the right of choice.

Furthermore, these helpless people have to sacrifice their self-esteem and wait in long queues for food just to curb their hunger. Even if they somehow fill their bellies with this food, they never get the satisfaction of eating a hearty meal.

Bidyanondo, the country’s largest food charity organization, has come forward to meet the needs of these underprivileged and helpless people. It is their aim to provide these helpless people their choice of food in a pleasant and healthy environment. Asiatic Marketing Communication Limited is Bidyanondo’s creative partner for this initiative.

Bidyanondo’s modern homely restaurant ensures a pleasant and healthy dining environment equipped with professional chefs, restaurant staff, menus and various nutritious food. This initiative of Bidyanondo has made it possible for the underprivileged to realize their dreams.

They can now sit in a pleasant and healthy environment at the restaurant and choose their favourite food from the buffet for only 1 taka. A sense of self-worth and self-satisfaction was evident in the smiles on their faces after the meals.
