AIUB Business Club (ABC): Dexterity 2.0 Intra-AIUB Case Competition

Our futures are created by what we do today, not tomorrow. Today is the opportunity to build the tomorrow we want. Our choices and efforts today determine and define the kind of future we are working towards, in business and even in education. Emphasizing on the bridging the gap with practical application, simulations, and a holistic approach to teaching-and-learning, the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) engages students in various initiatives throughout the semesters. Dexterity 2.0, an intra-AIUB case competition, is one such program organized by the AIUB Business Club (ABC).

Inaugurated with a Grooming Session with Mohammad Sarwar Jahan, the Deputy Manager of Corporate Sales at Bikroy as the Guest Speaker, the program briefed participants on the basics of business case study analysis and presentation. Spanning over 3 Rounds, the competition drew nearly 60 teams with diverse mix of more than 200 participants from various academic programs, from which the Top 6 Finalist Teams were selected after rigorous evaluations from the panel of judges, comprised of faculty members from the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA). The teams were tasked with solving complex business cases and presenting their strategic recommendations.

On the 3rd of August 2023, the Final Round ensued a competitive battle between teams, with Dr. Mohammad Ali, Senior Assistant Professor, Management & HRM, FBA, Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud FMCA, Director for the Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), and Ms. Sahmida Rashid Anika, Account Director, Asiatic Marketing Communications Limited as the distinguished panel of judges. “The Crew” became the 2nd Runner-Up, comprising Nabiul Lam Hasan, Jabir Mahmud Nabil, Ahnaf Ahmed, and Mim Akter Senthiya. Team “Crowdstage”, comprising of Margaret Khan, Tarek, Mehedi Afroz Binti, and Muntasir Alam, secured the 1st Runner-Up position, while “The Four Musketeers”, Aman Septimo Molla, Ramin Saleah, Swarna Rani Das, and Zahidul Emran Bhuiyan, together became the champions of the competition. The judges were impressed by the comprehensive analysis and strong presentation of the case from all the finalists.

The closing and prize-giving ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Associate Professor and Director, Undergraduate Program, FBA, Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Associate Professor and Director, Graduate Program, FBA, and the respective Department Heads of FBA. They congratulated all the participating teams for engaging in such co-curricular activities outside of the classroom, and applauded ABC for creating a platform for students to showcase their talent and develop their problem-solving skills. These valuable learning experiences shape and catalyze students to develop their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact around the world in the long run. As they say, success is not final, failure is not fatal, but it is the courage to continue our endeavors that make a difference in our personal growth, and in turn, to our socio-economic welfare as a community.
