Oman Air Launches Dhaka-Muscat Direct Flights

Oman Air launched their direct flight between Muscat and Dhaka. As part of the 3 day inaugural programme the airline held a press conference in Dhaka on November 4, after the arrival of the first flight at Hazrat Shahjalal Int. Airport. The airline said the new route has been in service since 25th October as a trial period, which turned out very successful with 90% of the seats booked.

The airline is currently providing four flights per week on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and plans to increase the flight numbers from December 1st this year, including Mondays and Wednesdays in the schedule. The airline is using the award winning Airbus 330 on this new route to serve such large number of passengers travelling between Muscat and Dhaka.

The press conference was attended by personnel from local and international medias. VIP officials of the airline industry of both Oman and Bangladesh were also present at the event. Abdullah Al Busaidy, Chief Operating Officer of Oman Air, Khondaker Kabir, Country Manager of Oman Air Bangladesh, Abdulrazzaq Alraisi, Chief Commercial Officer, Ahmed Yusuf Walid, CEO of Air Galaxy, and Mahbubul Anam, Managing Director of Allied Aviation Bangladesh were present at the press conference.  Hamid Khamis Al Amri, under secretary of Oman’s Ministry of Manpower for Employment also flew to Dhaka to attend the inaugural ceremony.

The airline informed the media about their plan to attract tourists from Oman to visit Bangladesh through a collaboration with Oman Air Holidays. They hoped the visa processing for Oman to be made online within a short time and expected travelling frequency to be faster.

By the end of next year, the airline expects to add airports of Salalah and Sohar in their service.
