Dhaka University Marketing Alumni Association (DU-MAA) and Marketers’ Institute Bangladesh (MIB), the largest platform of academic and professional in marking domain, jointly organised the third edition of the day under the theme of ‘Courage to Combat’. Unlike other years, this year the day has been celebrated virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Bangladesh Marketing Day has been observed virtually on Friday and Saturday with an aim to share knowledge on transformed trends in businesses and recognise the contributions of marketers as frontline contributors amid pandemic.

The virtual session started with the welcome speech of AKM Shoeb, Chairman, National Debate Federation- Bangladesh. The welcome speech and special address were presented by Dr. Shariful Islam Dulu, Member Secretary, Bangladesh Marketing Day and Ashraf Bin Taj, President, Marketing Society of Bangladesh (MSB). The day proceeded with key note sessions on, Driving Business during Pandemic by Mr. Syed Alamgir, Managing Director, ACI Consumer Brands; Courage to Combat by Mr. Asif Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director – FMCG, Meghna Group of Industries; and Marketing the Science of Technology and Economics by Prof. Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Director, IBA, University of Dhaka,
This two-day session consisted of 8 Panel Discussions with a number of industry leaders. The first discussion on “Organization for Employees & Employees for Organizations” was moderated by M. Zulfiquar Hossain, Founder & Lead Consultant, Grow n Excel and the panelists were Kazi Inam Ahmed, Director, Gemcon Group; G.M. Kamrul Hassan, Group CEO, Igloo; Kazi Jamil Islam, Managing Director, Express Leathers (Lotto); and Reazul Chowdhury, Managing Director, & CEO, Runner Automobiles Ltd.

Enamul Haque, Professor, Department of Economics, East West University carried out the session on “Lessons during COVID for the Aspiring Marketers” with the panelists Khandaker Shamim Rahman, Head of Marketing, Social Marketing Company; Dr. Md Mizanur Rahman, Professor & Chairman, Department of Marketing, Dhaka University; Dr. Shariful Islam Dulu, Member Secretary, Bangladesh Marketing Day and Marketing Institute of Bangladesh; and Prof. Dr. Md. Shah Azam, Professor, Marketing, University of Rajshahi.
“Driving Sales Excellence during Pandemic Time”, Anup Kumar Saha, Deputy Executive Director, ACI Consumer Brands was the moderator of this first panel discussion of the second day. The panel line up for the session were M. Hossain Iraj, Director, Operations, Akij Biax Films, Akij Four Mills Ltd.; Mohammad Mofassel Haque, Director, & Marketing, T. K. Group; Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Chief Sales Officer (CSO) & Head of Government Relations, Nagad; Syed Iqbal Hossain, Sales Director, Nestle Bangladesh; and Runi Rahman, Head of Trade/Channel Development & Sales Strategy, BSRM Group.
“Fighting Against the Wind” was a panel session moderated by Mahzabin Ferdous, Executive Director, Concito PR; and the esteemed panelists were Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, Managing Director, Half Stop Down; A B M Jabed Sultan Pias, Head of Digital Business, Prothom Alo Digital; Nazim Farhan Choudhury, Managing Director, Adcomm; and Nabila Nowrin, Co-Founder Managing Director, Moar Space Ltd.
The session titled “Ecommerce is the new Black” was moderated by Lutfi Chowdhur, AdTech Expert where Adnan Halim Imtiaz, Founder & CEO, Sheba.xyz; Syeda Jhumur, CSO, Melonades; Md Saimum Hossain, CFA, Co-Founder, Khaas Food Ltd & Gowala; Mirza Ileush, Co-Founder & Chief of Everything Officer, Brand Practioners BD; and Ahmad Ad, CEO, Hungrynaki.com were present as the panelists of the session.
“Boom of responsible marketing: Fad or Sustainable?”, under the moderation of Asif Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director (FMCG), Meghna Group of Industries the session was carried out with the participation of panelist Shariful Islam, Foudner & Managing Director, Bangladesh Brand Forum; Sabbir Hasan Nasir, Executive Director, ACI Logistics Ltd (Shwapno); & Sajjad Hasib, CMO, Grameenphone.
The session “Change in Consumer Behavior Landscape” was moderated by Quamrul Hassan, Business, Director, Consumer Brands, ACI Ltd. and the participants of the panel discussion were Firoj Alam, Deputy Executive Director, Walton High Tech Industries Ltd.; Ahasan Khundker, General Manager, BD, Nepal & Myanmar, Vini Cosmetics; Kazi Mohiuddin, GM, Brands, Meghna Group of Industries; Quazi Shafayet Hossain, Executive Director, Dekko Foods Ltd.; Surayya Siddiqua, Head of Marketing, Grameen Danone Foods Limited; and Md Enamul Haque, Director, Customer Management, Borak Real Estate.
Finally the two-day celebration came to an end with the panel discussion on “Is BTL Industry Dying or Reforming?”.
