The Department of Marketing and Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) at the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), arranged an event called “Practicing Business” for students enrolled in the core courses of “International Business.” The event took place on July 30, 2023, within the university premises. Its purpose was to provide students with an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills related to promoting and selling local products in hypothetical international markets. A total of fifteen (15) teams, representing various sections of the International Business course, actively participated in the program. Each team showcased distinct items from different districts, fostering a competitive environment and applying the theoretical concepts they had learned in class.
The event commenced with an inauguration by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB. Alongside him, Dr. Rezbin Nahar, an Associate Professor and Director of the Undergraduate Program in the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), Prof. Dr. Partha P. Chowdhury, the Head of the Department of Marketing, THM, & IB, FBA, heads of other FBA departments, and marketing faculty members were also present. These dignitaries visited all the stalls, providing valuable feedback on each team’s ideas and presentations. Esteemed faculty members, administrative officials, and numerous students participated, offering encouragement to the teams. Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Farheen Hassan, the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, also attended and motivated the participants.
Mr. AKM Kamrul Haque, Senior Assistant Professor and Event Coordinator, along with Dr. Sahin Akter Sarker, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator, Dr. Yesmin Sultana, Associate Professor, and Mr. Hamidul Islam from the Department of Marketing in the Faculty of Business Administration, organized the event in consultation with Prof. Dr. Partha P. Chowdhury, the Head of the Department of Marketing, & THM, FBA. This initiative offered students an innovative platform to implement and actualize their ideas, paving the way for them to become future business leaders. The administrative staff at AIUB played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event through their unwavering support.
