Department of Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE), Faculty of Engineering, AIUB organized a seminar titled “Making Future Engineers through Research & Industry Engagement” which was supported by the AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES). This significant program was held in the Multipurpose Hall, Building-D of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and the program started at 11:00 AM.
The purpose of the seminar was to provide an overview on how research cultivates innovation, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking skills, enabling inclusive and sustainable industrialization. Distinguished speaker Dr. Sabuj Mallik (Head of Engineering Discipline, University of Derby, UK) started his speech with examples of industrial project focusing on the re-design of a bag sealing machine, an industrial project linked to energy management in electric rail and partnering with industry in curriculum development. He provides information about energy recovery through regenerative braking, energy from wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) energy systems, and energy storage systems (ESS): Flywheel, battery, and Supercapacitor. Furthermore, he discussed the nuclear skills academy and the intended outcomes of partnerships. Then, a short Q&A session was held for the participants.
Finally, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) gave the closing speech. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan (Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) and Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) concluded the seminar by presenting a token of appreciation to the speaker.
