Dhaka, Bangladesh, 22nd July, 2017 – With the theme “In Search of the most creative young professionals” Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) & The Daily Star, in association with Cannes Lions organized Young Lions Competitions Bangladesh 2017, the third edition of its kind. The day-long competition was held on 22nd July, 2017 (Saturday) at The Daily Star Centre, Dhaka. Marketing Society of Bangladesh was the knowledge partner for the event while Roaring Lions was the strategic partner.
This year, the competition had two categories, namely Integrated Campaign and Integrated Digital Campaign. From 18 creative agencies, all together 27 teams, each comprising of two members participated in the competition. Among them, 16 teams participated in Integrated Campaign and 11 teams in Integrated Digital Campaign categories. Upon being given a real life case, the teams developed campaigns within the allotted time. For this year, the case for the teams was about “Human! Save the ear to hear who you are!” solving the noise pollution problem of Bangladesh. The developed campaigns focused on creating mass awareness, informing the people about the consequences of noise pollution, generating buzz about the issue, and bringing in positive changes in people’s behavior.
Teams presented their campaigns with a five-minute presentation each, before an expert jury panel. The jury panel for Integrated Campaign had Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, CMO, Bengal Group of Industries; Mahzabin Ferdous Sharna, Head of Brand and Corporate Communication, IPDC Finance Limited; Md. Tajdin Hassan, Head of Marketing, The Daily Star; and Md. Quamrul Hassan, Business Director, ACI Limited. In Integrated Digital Campaign, the jury board comprised of Zakia Zerin, Head of App Eco System, Grameenphone Limited; Neamul Mukit Ahmed, Head of e-Engagement & Marketing, Digital Division, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited, and Hasan Mehdi, Chief Executive Officer, SSD-TECH.
The teams came up with some tremendously interesting ideas. From attractive print ads to interactive outdoor campaigns, teams fought with their level best to win the crown. The tough fight ended with a thorough evaluation process and the jury panel decided on the winning teams for both the categories.
The Grey Group Team, comprising of Farah Yasmin, Senior Visualizer & Maisha Binte Siddiq, Executive, GMS conquered the title of Winner for Integrated Campaign category. The Magnito Digital Ltd. Team, comprising of Tasnim Noorin Brotee, Senior Strategic Planner & Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Senior Visualizer, was announced Winner for Integrated Digital Campaign category. Both the teams will be representing Bangladesh in the upcoming Spikes Asia 2017 to be held in 27- 29 September this year, at Singapore.
