On Saturday, 19th of November, Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) in partnership with world’s leading brand research company Kantar Millward Brown, Bangladesh and in association with The Daily Star will hold the Best Brand Award 2016 at the Hotel Le Meridien Dhaka. This is the 8th edition of the endeavor. The objective of the Best Brand Award is to exhibit that brands are the integral part of the organization and in many cases the single most valuable asset. This platform for best brands is thus recognizing the success of the business community of Bangladesh and portraying their achievements in brand building.
This event is organized to honor the leading brands in Bangladesh in 33 categories based on a nationwide survey consisting of 4800 respondents carried out by Kantar Millward Brown Bangladesh. The approach of this research was completely quantitative where face to face Pen and Paper Interviews (PAPI) were conducted with a structured questionnaire among randomly selected respondents.
A true pioneer in brand tracking since 1973, Millward Brown, currently known as Kantar Millward Brown, has conducted more than 18,000 brand tracking studies worldwide and has developed extensive databases and norms. It is the world’s largest brand tracking provider and currently has 1800 continuous tracking studies running, spanning 52 countries and 6 continents.
The key measure to drive top brands, Kantar Millward Brown’s MDS framework was used. MDS stands for Meaningful, Different and Salient. The essence of this framework is – the more meaningful, different and salient the brands are, the greater their ability to drive consumers’ brand predisposition. The ideal balance for a specific brand is a function of both the category and the primary mode of financial return—sales volume or premium pricing. To capture the overall countrywide brand ethos, in-category and across-category comparative context, Kantar Millward Brown has done in-category and cross-category harmonization to complete the ranking of the top brands.
In this year’s Best Brand Award, the nominated categories consist of 22 FMCG categories and 11 Non-FMCG categories. Along with the top brands in each category, a list of overall top 10 brands and local top 10 brands will be also ranked.
