With the mission of “Inspiring the Nation’s Future”, Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) has officially launched ‘Bangladesh YouthFest 2016’ through a press conference held on 10th Feb. at Meghna Hall, Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. Presented by Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), YouthFest 2016 is a unique endeavor to inspire the college and university students to prepare themselves for a global market. The initiative will engage students from seven divisions of the country.
Present at the conference were Hossain Khaled, President, DCCI; Rezwanul Hoque, Senior Director, Edison Group; M. Mahboob Rahman PhD, Dean, School of Business & Economics, NSU; Shariful Islam, Founder and Managing Director, BBF; and Munir Hasan, Coordinator, Youth Programmes, Prothom Alo.
Bangladesh Youth Fest 2016 will hold competitions in seven divisions comprising Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barisal and Rangpur respectively. Each divisional competition will culminate in a day-long program consisting Lecture Series, Knowledge Sessions and Knowledge Hub.
In regional rounds, lecture series and knowledge sessions will be two highlighting segments which will connect both regional and national experts with the students, with a view to sharing insights. Along with these, successful business stories and creative campaigns will be showcased in order to make the fest more engaging.
At the core of Youth Fest is the competition which calls students for idea generation across various segments, spanning from solving social issues to envisioning regional development. The competition is designed in the following broad categories:
- Social Problem Solving
- Technology
- Entrepreneurship
- Paper Presentation on Prediction of the Regional Economy for 2025, and Identifying the Key Drivers
- Women Entrepreneurship
The category “Women Entrepreneurship” is specifically designed to encourage entrepreneurship among the participating female students. Shortlisted ideas will be Supported by DCCI to help the female participants set up and run their own business ideas.
All participating teams will have the opportunity to participate in a two-day training on “Developing a Business Plan” which will be conducted by DCCI. Winning teams from regional rounds will be chosen to participate in the final round which will take place in Dhaka in April 2016.
The final event will be held at North South University spanning two days of knowledge sharing, networking, competition and other student engagements. Total 49 teams will be participation in the final competition. All final winning teams will be taken to Spikes Asia, largest festival of creativity in South Asia. All the short listed ideas, selected ones will be eligible for E2K project of DCCI, which will provide mentoring and access to finance.
