“Berger Alponay Boishakh 1426’’, initiated by Asiatic Experiential Marketing Ltd (Asiatic EXP), is the largest street painting festival of the country. To honor a long-standing tradition of our culture, Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. has again associated itself with the festival this year having the 7th instance of the annual event.
Like the previous year, this event was held in Manik Mia Avenue (Dhaka), DC Hill Area (Chattogram), Nabab Bari Road (Bogura), Keane Bridge (Sylhet) and Shib Bari Mor (Khulna). Continuing the tradition of the previous years in Dhaka, the Alpona has been drawn on the streets of Manik Mia Avenue, where renowned artists Mohammad Moniruzzaman and Sheikh Moniruzzaman Liton conducted the painting.
The painted area in Dhaka has spanned 300,000 square feet. In the rest of the cities, the size has spanned from 40,000 square feet to 60,000 square feet. In total 800 artists have worked in this project from where 400 artists have worked in Dhaka and the rest of the artists have worked in the remaining 4 locations.
The event started at 11 PM on April 13 and continued till the early morning of April 14 this year. The painting in all the cities had been initiated at the same time on April 13 which was open for everyone.
Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Honorable Speaker of the National Parliament; Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, and Asaduzzaman Noor, MP inaugurated the main event of ‘Alponay Boishakh’ at Manik Mia Avenue. Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd.; Sara Zaker, Vice Chairperson of Asiatic 3Sixty; Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Senior General Manager-Sales and Marketing of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd.; A K M Sadeque Nawaj, General Manager-Marketing of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited; Iresh Zaker, Managing Director of Asiatic Experiential Marketing Ltd (Asiatic EXP) and renowned artists were also present there.
