JEFF BEZOS STRIKES A DEAL WITH BOND: AMAZON ACQUIRES MGM STUDIOS FOR $8.5 BILLION

After acquiring Whole Foods for $13.7 billion back in 2017, the $1.6 trillion behemoth struck a deal with Metro Goldwyn Myer Studios for $8.5 billion this week.

This gives Amazon a boost in the rapidly booming video streaming industry that already has big competitors like Apple, Disney, Hulu, Netflix, etc. Moreover, Amazon will now get access to the legendary studio’s extensive library of movies and TV shows, including film franchises like “James Bond.”

Amazon’s own studios already have won Emmys with shows like Fleabag, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Entering this partnership may have been just the edge Amazon Prime Videos needed under its belt to give Netflix a run for its money, as the e-commerce giant only ranks second to it.
