Smart Bangladesh Network (SBN) and InterContinental Dhaka (ICD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on sustainability projects and initiatives that support Sustainable Hospitality in Bangladesh. The signing ceremony was held at InterContinental Dhaka. The collaboration, effective on January 18, 2023, spans three years, signaling a dedicated effort to propel the nation’s hospitality sector toward sustainability.
Under the MoU, InterContinental Dhaka commits to implementing sustainable business concepts in areas such as hotel operations, procurement, human resources, and waste reduction. The hotel will also focus on inclusive employment practices, particularly for disabled individuals. Additionally, ICD will organize summits to showcase best practices in climate change, agriculture, disability, and other pertinent areas. Smart Bangladesh Network will play a crucial role in guiding and facilitating InterContinental Dhaka to implement sustainable practices, fostering innovation and technology. The network will support ICD in organizing summits to scale up their best practices and promote the sustainable employment of disabled individuals. SBN will also assist in branding and recognizing InterContinental Dhaka’s contributions to the SDGs.
Mohammad Atiqur Rahaman, Managing Director, Bangladesh Services Limited (Owner of InterContinental Dhaka); Ashwani Nayar, General Manager, InterContinental Dhaka from InterContinental Dhaka and Monzurul Islam, Executive Member, Smart Bangladesh Network; Secretary, iDEA Foundation; Manik Mahmud, Executive Member, Smart Bangladesh Network; Programme Specialist, Innovation, a2i – Aspire to Innovate from Smart Bangladesh Network were the main signatories of the MoU. Md. Kamal Hossain Morshed, Director of Finance and Business Support, InterContinental Dhaka, and Sajid Mahbub, Executive Member, Smart Bangladesh Network; Chief Operating Officer & Executive Editor, Bangladesh Brand Forum were also present at the signing ceremony.
The MoU signing ceremony was also graced by the presence of Md. Abul Kalam Azad, MP, CO-Chairman, Smart Bangladesh Network.
The Smart Bangladesh Network has been launched as the catalyst in coordination with the government and private sector stakeholders of Bangladesh to initiate to facilitate the roadmap for Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041 and Delta Plan 2100. ‘Smart Bangladesh Network’ assists in enabling sustainable development and creating a Smart Bangladesh.
