Unilever Launches U-tube In The Pursuit To Go Green

Unilever is all set to release their recyclable toothpaste tubes in France and India. Stereotypical toothpaste tubes comprise plastic and aluminum, which are difficult to recycle. But the new recyclable tube will be made using one of the most widely recyclable plastics to exits- HDPE or High Density Polyethylene. 

According to Unilever, this initiative will massively reduce virgin plastic, promoting the transition towards a circular economy. Signal, Pepsodent and Closeup- Unilever’s oral care brands will all transition into these environmental friendly tubes by 2025.

At 220 microns, it will also be the thinnest plastic material one can find in the toothpaste market. As a show of good faith, they have also made the design free for any company that might wish to convert into a more sustainable solution like them. This is also ensure a positive change across the entire industry. Unilever also confirmed that the design has been approved by Reyclass. Reyclass is in charge of establishing the recyclable standard for Asia, Europe and North America.
