The seventh edition of Commward, Presented by Meghna Group of Industries honored 73 creative commercial campaigns across 17 categories through a grand award gala on 19th August at Le Méridien Dhaka. Commward: Excellence in Creative Communication has been celebrating creative communication in marketing and business since 2009. The winning campaigns were awarded in three ranks: Grand Prix, Gold and Silver.
Commward, the largest recognition platform for Bangladeshi advertising industry, received 355 nominations from 43 agencies, production houses and creative departments of various organizations this year. A day-long jury session, comprising of leading marketers and communication experts of the country, was held to evaluate and select the winners. 17 campaigns won Grand Prix, 37 campaigns won Gold and 19 campaigns won Silver award this year.
In its last year, Commward had 25 award categories; this year 11 categories were eliminated and 3 categories were added upon discussions among industry experts. The newly added categories are PR, Best Use of Idea, and Best Campaign by New Agency.
These newly added categories allowed new and emerging agencies show their potential. In the category Best Campaign by New Agency, Red Rocket Ltd. won the Grand Prix for their campaign ‘Shobar Agey Apex-er Dawat’. Along with them, many other small and new agencies were awarded for their campaigns in other categories. However, big agencies managed to keep their strong grip on most of the categories. Among the campaigns, “Grameenphone – Ekattorer Kotha” won the highest number of awards; Grand Prix in Best Use of Idea, Gold in RDC, and Gold in Direction for TVC Video categories. In the Integrated Campaign category, “Grameenphone – Shopno Jabe Bari” by Asiatic Mindshare Ltd./Asiatic 3Sixty won Grand Prix.
The award ceremony was attended by around 500 professionals from the business organizations, marketing and creative agencies. Commward 2017 was preceded by the day-long Communication Summit where 3 global key-note speakers took in-depth sessions on different topics related to creative communication.
