Food chains & beverage companies have always targeted the World cup as a great way of boosting their sales while coming up with fabulous campaigns that attracts viewers from all over the globe. 4 years on from Brazil, the World Cup is back here in Russia. And the heavyweights like McDonald’s aren’t sitting back. In this edition, we’ll talk about what McDonald’s has planned out.
For the 23rd edition of the ‘Greatest show on Earth’, they’ve come up with a tribute to all the 8 countries who have been champions since 1930. Targeted to be promoted only in Brazil, for the first time, the customers can enjoy customized fries. As it is being promoted only in Brazil, the McBrasil will be available on the menu every day of the week. Customers can also enjoy customized sandwiches themed Germany, Spain, Uruguay, Argentina, England, France, and Italy, depending on the day of the week. All of these snacks went on sale as of April 24 throughout local Brazilian chains.
What sets each of these sandwiches apart, is their recipes, and their preparation. Each sandwich uses country-specific ingredients that provides customers a chance to try hands-on the palates of the countries each sandwich represents. So, as you can already tell, each day of the week is assigned a sandwich.
Here are what customers will find corresponding to the day of the week:
Sunday | McItaly |
Monday | McFrance |
Tuesday | McSpain |
Wednesday | McGermany |
Thursday | McUruguay |
Friday | McEngland |
Saturday | McArgentina |
Sunday to Saturday | McBrasil |
What follows is a breakdown of the sandwiches you can relate to the most:
McItaly
On Sunday, the ones on display are of the 4-time World Champions Italy. Very understandably, the Italian version includes from Mozzarella, polpetone, tomato, pepperoni and sausage sauce with dried tomatoes. If you’re an Italian & living elsewhere, one bite of this will make you homesick.
McFrance
For the country hailing the Zizous & and the Henrys, the burger consists of caramelized mushrooms, emmental cheese, leaf mix, crispy onion and brie sauce on sesame bread. Serve with rustic potatoes with brie sauce and chopped bacon. This burger usually found on the day of the week when most of us don’t even want to go to work, will make you remember the nostalgia caused by Les Bleus.
