Professor Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), and Clinical Professor Niwes Nantachit, M.D. President, Chiang Mai University, Thailand (CMU) together signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between their respective institutes on May 16, 2016 at office of the University, CMU, Thailand. The academic collaborative agreement aims to promote collaboration in language studies, faculty development and student exchange.
Founded in 1964, Chiang Mai University is the largest university in Northern Thailand. With a student population of approximately 40,000, CMU currently has 20 different faculties and offers 6 international undergraduate degrees as well as 27 international postgraduate degree programs. While CMU is affiliated with foreign universities, institutes and international organizations in 28 different countries, the MoU with ULAB is its first with any Bangladeshi university.
The Center for Language Studies (CLS), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and the Language Institute Chiang Mai University (LICMU) plan to begin their student exchange program by the end of 2016, Through this program, students from CMU will be able to visit ULAB for Language and Cultural exchange and ULAB students would be able to do the same.
