Lions Edit Competition Bangladesh 2016 Held to Find Out the Most Creative Young Professionals

With a mission to find out the most creative & competitive young professionals in the marketing communication sector of the country, Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) & The Daily Star, in association with Cannes Lions initiated Lions Edit Competition Bangladesh 2016. The day-long competition was held on 23rd July, 2016 (Saturday) at The Daily Star Centre, Dhaka. Marketing Society of Bangladesh was the knowledge partner for the event while Roaring Lions was the strategic partner. From 13 creative agencies and 3 corporate houses, all together 22 teams, each comprising of two members participated in the competition. Based on a given case, the teams developed integrated campaigns within the allotted time. For this year, the case for the teams was about solving the water crisis problem of Bangladesh. The developed campaigns focused on creating mass awareness, informing the people about the consequences of wasting water, generating buzz about the issue, and bringing in positive changes in people’s behavior.

Teams showcased their campaigns with a five-minute presentation each, before an expert jury panel involving three members. The jury panel had Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, Group CMO and Business Development Head, Super Star Group; G. M. Kamrul Hassan, Chief Executive Officer, IGLOO Ice Cream Company; and Khandaker Ashraful Haque, Vice President, Market Operation, Robi Axiata Limited as the members.

The teams came up with some tremendously interesting ideas. From attractive print ads to interactive outdoor campaigns, teams fought with their level best to win the crown.

The tough fight ended with a thorough evaluation process and the jury panel decided on the winner and the runner-up team. The winner team for Lions Edit Competition Bangladesh 2016 is from Beatnik Designs having Walid Uz Zaman Khan, Managing Partner & head of Design and Andalib Kabir, Managing Partner & head of Operations as the members. The runner-up team is from Strategeek, teamed up by Samanta Sarni Tira, Senior Strategic Partner and Maleena Dhirty Gomez, Art Director.

Mr. Tajdin Hassan, along with the jurors concluded the event with their remarks on the initiative and appreciating the efforts of the participants. Both the winner & the runnerup teams will be representing Bangladesh in the upcoming Spikes Asia 2016 to be held in September this year, at Singapore.
