Asia Marketing Day 2023: Empowering Bangladesh’s Youth to Build a SMART Nation

Bangladesh Brand Forum organised Asia Marketing Day 2023, gathering students, marketing professionals, and recognised experts to commemorate Marketing Guru Professor Philip Kotler’s 92nd birthday. The event, which took place across ten top universities in Dhaka, aimed at exploring the role of marketing in developing a SMART Nation and empowering Bangladesh’s youth.

A Vision for a SMART Bangladesh

Asia Marketing Day 2023, under the theme “Marketing’s Role in Creating SMART Nations & SMART Citizens,” focused on imagining a SMART Bangladesh. The event drew over 3,000 students in person and 20,000 pupils online and facilitated an open dialogue on defining the framework for SMART Bangladesh, equipping the youth accordingly. The engagement centred on the central premise of harnessing marketing methods to help Bangladesh become a SMART Nation.

The universities where the event took place were University of Dhaka, BRAC University, North South University, Independent University, Bangladesh, American International University-Bangladesh, Daffodil University, United International University, Canadian University of Bangladesh, Northern University Bangladesh and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.

Insights from Global Experts

The event started with a virtual session with Professor Philip Kotler, who shared his wisdom and skills with all ten universities. A panel discussion was held at the University of Dhaka’s Faculty of Business Studies with Mr Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Prof. Syed Ferhat Anwar, and Prof. Hermawan Kertajaya. The remaining universities held Panel discussions concurrently, assuring comprehensive coverage and various perspectives.

 

Celebrating Professor Philip Kotler

A special cake-cutting ceremony commemorated Professor Philip Kotler’s 92nd birthday as a tribute to his enormous contribution to the marketing profession. Attendees expressed gratitude and admiration for his unique insights and assistance at the event. Professor Kotler’s virtual presence resonated powerfully with the participants, reinforcing their desire to be leaders in creating a SMART nation.

Empowering Bangladesh’s Marketing Community

Shariful Islam, Founder and Managing Director of Bangladesh Brand Forum expressed his trust in Asia Marketing Day’s transforming impact, noting that the event presented Bangladeshi marketing students with a one-of-a-kind experience. The event has set the scene for young marketers to define a SMART Bangladesh through innovation, creativity, and sustainable practices as the country embraces the challenges and opportunities of the digital era.
