Ever heard of a radio station being a friend, philosopher and guide? No? Well Colours FM 101.6 is just that. It is your friend that guides you, it is a friend who is next to you and a fun loving person who celebrates each and every day with you. Colours has a spectrum of shows that connects with each listener on a one-to-one basis and our target, 18 to 35 years old urban woman.
Colours of Shows
The weekday starts with our regular up-tempo show, Lipstick Morning (8am – 12pm, Sunday – Thursday), followed by Olpo Sholpo Golpo (12pm – 4pm, Sunday – Thursday), which rolls into our evening drive time show Butterfly Effect (4pm – 8:00pm, Sunday – Thursday). During each of these shows, the RJ’s address the listeners as a friend they are talking to. Communication happens via text messages, comments or remarks on our social media page(s) and in the form of call outs. We listen to what they have to say, be it a birthday wish, a problem for which they want a second opinion or advice on the latest trendy clothes, make up and grooming.
Colours has a host of talk shows which have been created to address different crowds, a few being, Teen Tekka, Haat Baralei Shakti, Donspiration, Life Hacks with Quazi and more. How does Colours help through these shows? Teen Tekka is a famous show at the Station, which is hosted by four teenagers who talk about teenage problems ranging from studies to parent related issues to peer-social pressures. These four teenagers talk about the problems they faced in the past or are currently facing and relate it to the listeners who are tuned in, sharing their problems on air.
While Donspiration is there for young graduates and university going students. They are shown that sky is the limit! The show explores other unconventional successful occupations such as stand-up comedy, working for humanity foundations, modeling, anchoring, modeling etc. It encourages youngsters to follow their dreams, citing examples of successful people in the respective fields.
Women Specials
Power Woman. As the name suggests, this one hour show is all about the women we are surrounded by. Women who have made a difference in their lives. They can be mountaineers, boutique owners, bakery owners, someone who runs an event management company, someone who works in the advertising agency or makes cars! They are brought to this show to talk about the hurdles in life that they had to face in order to be where they are today. The journey might have been a tough one or maybe seemed impossible at some point of time. But they made it. They set examples to the listeners and are a mega tool of encouragement to other females who want to do something in life, want to achieve a goal. There are countless of such women out there. Throwing lights on their success stories is what this show is all about!
On the other hand, Haat Baralei Shakti attends to problems and situations that females face in our society. Be it harassment while travelling in a bus or the age old and still occurring domestic violence.
One-Stop for Music Lovers
Colours also offers a banquet of shows which grab the niche listeners through the different forms of music. Planet Hip Hop is hosted by a well known hip-hop artist. There is Rock and Rock Roll & More for those who love rock music and underground rock. For the Ranbindra Sangeet & Nazrul Sangeet fans, Colours has Shudhu Rabindranath and Shudhu Nazrul catering to them respectively. Pichhutaan is there for those who love old Bangla classic songs and want to relive forgotten moments. For Bollywood buffs, Yaadon Ki Baaraat is there to bring you those evergreen melodious songs of the yesteryears and those who love the latest Bollywood music Bollywood Bollywood is there to fill you in the latest music and get your foot tapping. Retroactive on the other hand is there to re-discover those once upon a time rock & roll, pop and new wave, chartbusters. The Band Show is filled with old Bangla band songs which were the rave of the country!
Fun & Frolic
One of the most fun thing Colours does is to have “Ek Din Er Rongbaj.” A female listener, Rongbaj, is chosen to be an RJ for a whole day hosting the regular shows live on air with the dedicated RJs. It is an experience that is not easily forgotten by the Ronbaj’s.
Another well-known segment is, Singer-Next-Door. It is a platform where singers & musicians get a chance to showcase their talent by singing and playing their acoustic instruments. If a new album is launched, this is the place where it’s highlighted. Studio Purple is another element that is enjoyed by the listeners. Bands play live music from their albums. It’s a treat and a great way for the weekend to start!
