The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a seminar on “SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC MICRO-GRID ELECTRICITY SHINES REMOTE AREAS OF BANGLADESH” on November 15, 2015. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Habibur Rahman, Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Dhaka.
In the talk Dr. Rahman initially described the basics of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) cells and power systems to the audience. He explained how PV power systems are initiated and how it can provide electricity through micro grid systems. He also described how a microgrid works as well as his experiences of two PV Microgrid power systems setup in Chandpur and Barguna under the funding of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh. In the talk he provided the information of how these two systems are serving electricity to the remote areas of Bangladesh. At the end of his talk Dr. Rahman mentioned the challenges he faced to build and maintain these systems.
Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim Mazumder, Head of the Department, ETE, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Advisor, School of Science and Engineering along with students and other faculties of ULAB were present in the seminar.
A question-answer session was held with the participation of faculties, students and guests with the speaker in a cordial atmosphere.
At the end of the seminar Dr. Rezaul Karim Mazumder extended his sincere thank and congratulation to the speaker for his excellent and scholarly presentation of the topics.
