The First Council Meeting of Superbrands Bangladesh 2018 Held

To mark the topmost brands of the country, the first council meeting of Superbrands Bangladesh was held recently at Hemanta Hall of Six Seasons Hotel. Superbrands, the UK based independent authority on branding, promotes the discipline of branding and pays tribute to exceptional brands all over the world. Superbrands has been successfully publishing a prestigious series of books which identifies and pays tribute to the strongest brands in the world. Although the concept began in the UK in 1994, it has now spread across the world in over 90 countries and has recently commenced operation in Bangladesh again for the upcoming year.

Superbrands are selected through a process conducted by an independent panel of experts from a range of backgrounds, known as the “Brand Council”. This panel is able to bring their knowledge and experience of the local market, within the different categories of industries while selecting the top brands.

The objective of Superbrands Bangladesh is to select brands that have been successful in Bangladesh by virtue of the strong links they have built with their customers. These brands are considered to have excelled in their particular fields and stand out from the average. Superbrands team will engage with these selective brands to finalize the brands who will be recognized as the Superbrands of Bangladesh.

The panel, through their ratings, chose the top brands of Bangladesh which offer their consumers significant emotional and physical advantages over other brands, which the consumers want and recognize consciously and sub-consciously.

The council consists of some of the top leaders from the business sector of Bangladesh. The council was graced by: Abrar A. Anwar, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia; Ajit Kumar Paul, Additional Secretary, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); Ashraf Bin Taj, President, Marketing Society of Bangladesh; Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Professor, IBA, University of Dhaka; Hossain Khaled, Managing Director, Anwar Group; Jalal Ahmed, Additional Secretary, External Resources Division, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of People’s Republic of Bangladesh; M Jahangir Kabir, CEO, ENDEAVOUR; Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, CEO & Managing Director, Robi Axiata Limited; Niaz Rahim, Group Director, Rahimafrooz Limited; Papias Hawlader, Chief Innovation Offier, LeadSoft Bangladesh Limited; Reazul Chowdhury, Managing Director, Avery Dennison RBIS Bangladesh; And Shariful Islam, Managing Director, Brandzeal Consultancy Limited.
