This is the feeling that rips through you when you watch a TED/TEDx Talk. The thrill of a significant accomplishment is triggered by your imagination. When you sit as an audience member at a TEDx event, that thrill is multiplied because you are witnessing live storytelling. And that is basically what TEDx events are all about – simplified authentic storytelling. And the storytellers at this event are perhaps some of the most fascinating people you will ever come across in this city.
TEDx events, where x = independently organized TED event, are local events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TED is a non-profit organization whose motto is “Ideas worth spreading”. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
TEDxAIUB (American International University – Bangladesh) taking place on December 12 this year in AIUB is a TEDx University event operating under a license from TED. TEDxAIUB is one of the only few in TEDx events in Bangladesh, designed to gather the unique minds in our community to spark conversation and connection. We strongly believe in the power of ideas to change beliefs, individuals, and eventually societies.
Additionally, you will be surrounded by the some of the most creative and bright minds of the city. Exchanging conversations with such folks is bound to be a learning experience, because TEDx attendees are diverse and brilliant. You will be among a group of audience who value knowledge and intellectuality above everything else.

Keeping TED and TEDx events in mind, this year’s theme for the event is ‘Ideas are Infinite’. In this event, we celebrate stories of those who have come up with unique ideas in various fields like education, career choices, entrepreneurship, home and much more. With their exceptional minds and immeasurable work ethics, these individuals are truly icons who will surely inspire students, faculties and general audiences alike.
The speakers at TEDxAIUB 2015 “Ideas are Infinite” are:
Shams Jaber – Shams Jaber is the Founder of ‘Computing in the Cloud(Literally)’ which is a not-for-profit project that provides Engineering Education to children living in the remote areas of Bangladesh, ex. Bandarban and Fatikchari. Shams has a High School Diploma from William Carey Academy, Chittagong and studied in BRAC Business School for more than two years before dropping out at 2013.
Mofizul Haque Chowdhury – Mofizul Haque Chowdhury has been a student of music since he was a kid. It started back when he was in class 5 (age 11) and started taking classical lessons for the next 3 years. But then he got into rock music which caused him to stop the classical lessons. Taking up guitar, in 2010 some of his friends really pushed him to train his vocals and that is what helped him to bring out his full potential. Now he is working with Black as the lead vocalist.
Shagufe Hossain – Syeda Shagufe Hossain is the founder of Leaping Boundaries. She is also the founding member of Garbo Bangladesh Foundation (Feb 2012) Founder and Chairperson of Shammo Foundation. She was also the Programme Officer for Fundraising and Monitoring in WaterAid Bangladesh (Feb 2015- August, 2015) and Assistant Manager of Youth at BRAC International (April 2013 Until Feb 2015).
Arif Nezami – Arif Nezami is a serial entrepreneur and community manager. He is actively managing tech and youth communities since 2010 all around Bangladesh. He is passionate about solving problems with technology using empathy and human centered design. Arif is an IVLP alumni of US State Department and active startup evangelist.
Maliha Mohsin – Maliha Mohsin is a writer and creative director anchored in Dhaka. She is also the founder and director of Glyph, an indie creative storytelling agency; a student of Psychology; and eternally hungry.
Max Mystel – Max Mystel is a street performer, magician and a comedian. He likes to refer to himself as “The deck-no-logically challenged entertainer.” He has been performing professionally for 11 years, for audiences of all ages and different nationalities. He has been most recently covered my The Telegraph newspaper.
Tabin Hasan – Tabin Hasan earned his Masters from Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden in the area of HCI and Bachelors from AIUB. While studying at KTH, he was being offered a paid thesis at University of Trento, Italy. On completion of his thesis work, he was offered research fellowship followed by a PhD position as recognition to his distinct research excellence. He is now a full time faculty at AIUB heading the graduate program.
Samid Razzak – Samid Razzak is one of the initiators of ’10 Minute School’ which is a web based school that replaces the role of prevalent costly coaching academies in our country. He is also the winner of social media championship award at Ad Maker Bangladesh 2015, winner of 2nd prize at Ptak Global Supply Chain competition and a finalist at Telenor Youth Forum 2015.
Fazlay Rabby – He is the Co-founder and moderator of Facebook base largest Bangladeshi travel platform “Travelers of Bangladesh” where not only the locals seeks information and plan tours but also many foreigners and expats engaged. He is also the Co-founder and moderator of “Project BanglaTrek” and the Owner of countries largest outdoor gear shop “Peak69 Outdoor & Adventure”.
Khan Muhammad Saqiful Alam – Khan Muhammad Saqiful Alam is a lecturer of operations and risk management for the department of management in North South University. He completed his masters from Manchester Business School in Operations, Projects and Supply Chain Management, after graduating from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University. At present, he is the coordinator of Applied Statistics and Risk Management Courses and also the coordinator of NSU Seminar Series for North South University.
