Redefining Media in the Digital Age: Deepto TV’s Strategic Transformation

“At Deepto, we’re not just broadcasting—we’re story-building, brand-partnering, and future-shaping.”

The New Reality for Broadcasters

The Bangladeshi media industry is undergoing a structural shift. Audiences are no longer platform-loyal. Advertisers demand outcomes, not just exposure. Traditional broadcasters must evolve—or risk irrelevance.

90% of Gen Z viewers in urban Bangladesh engage with OTT at least once a week, while 70% still consume TV content daily. (Source: Deepto audience insights, 2024).

In this dynamic media environment, Deepto TV, a household name in Bangladesh, needed not just a facelift but a full strategic evolution.

TV & OTT: Not Competition, But Complements

While traditional TV still commands mass reach, OTT platforms are rewriting the rules of audience engagement. We saw an opportunity to align, not separate, the two.

With DeeptoPlay, our in-house OTT platform, we’ve built a differentiated space for original storytelling, exclusive drama content, and digitally-savvy audience experiences. From subscription bundles to pay-per-view models, we designed monetization to be scalable and sustainable.

Yet, we didn’t abandon TV—instead, we reframed it.
Because TV isn’t dying, it’s just evolving.

Strategic Transformation: Our Pillars

  1. Content is Still King—But Smarter

We protected our crown jewel, dubbed drama content, where Deepto leads the market. Alongside, we scaled local drama production—introducing refined storytelling, higher production values, and new-age casting.

Key initiatives included

“Deepto Classics” – A nostalgic content label with refreshed packaging for modern family viewing.

2. Unified Lifecycle: From Air to Anywhere

Every piece of content now travels:
– TV debut → OTT for extended reach
– Edited for social → Meme/reel economy

“A show is no longer a one-time airing—it’s an evolving asset.”

3. Brand = Behavior, Not Just Identity

We stopped “advertising” Deepto. Instead:
– Created fan-driven events like Deepto Star Hunt
– Integrated brands in-show
– Activated fan pages and polls on character arcs

Result: 120% increase in organic engagement on character reels and OTT teasers.

4. Monetization Is Now a Narrative

Gone are the days of 30-second TV spots.
Now, brands live inside the story—in dialogues, props, sets, and emotional arcs.

From QR codes in dramas to branded cooking shows, advertisers want presence that performs.

  1. Solution-Driven Journalism
Deepto News practices constructive journalism—reporting not just problems, but solutions. From plastic pollution awareness to highlighting community-based initiatives, our focus is on journalism that builds impact, not just headlines.

“In the age of outrage, credibility is your only currency.”

  1. Agriculture for Impact: Deepto Krishi

Our flagship agricultural program Deepto Krishi has become a household name among farmers. It provides insights into modern techniques, seasonal crop tips, and showcases successful farmer stories—empowering the backbone of our economy with knowledge and innovation.

Rural-first programming is not a CSR project—it’s a commercial opportunity.

  1. Socially Bold Original OTT and social media Content

We’ve used Deepto Play to tell stories that matter. Our original series Shahoshika 1 and Shahoshika 2 broke ground by addressing women-centric taboos—especially the sensitive and rarely portrayed issue of marital rape. These shows sparked essential conversations on social platforms and cemented our positioning as a platform willing to tackle difficult, yet necessary, subjects.

We also ventured into environmental storytelling with “Tomorrow”, a compelling narrative focused on the imminent realities of global warming. It served as a climate-awareness piece aimed at

educating and emotionally moving younger viewers. The series demonstrated that entertainment can also be a catalyst for environmental consciousness, especially in countries like Bangladesh that are on the frontline of climate change.

Together, these originals showcase our editorial courage and commitment to responsible content leadership in the OTT and social media space.

“Audiences reward truth—and stories that dare.”
